Prince Albert – The Royal Treatment for your Crown Jewels!

With St George’s Day almost upon us and HRH celebrating her 87th birthday next week, we thought we’d go with something of a Royal Theme for today’s blog.

Now, guys, have you ever thought about giving your Crown Jewels the royal treatment? Royal treatment as in a Prince Albert, Prince Albert as in a bar through the cock? Well when we say cock we really mean the tip of the urethra. But hey…semantics. If you have, read on for some info on the pros and cons, and if you haven’t, well… read on for some info on the pros and cons. You never know, you might be a convert.

The Prince Albert is named after Queen Victoria’s husband, unsurprisingly called Prince Albert, who is said to have had the piercing done just before his wedding to the queen in 1825. It was the fashion of the day to wear extremely tight trousers and apparently the piercing was done so that the penis could be hooked to the side thus avoiding a vulgar and unsightly ‘bulge’. Oo er!

These days it’s less about the unsightly bulge and more about the heightened sexual pleasure, with most pierced Alberts claiming that the sensations during sex can be extremely pleasant indeed. And most partners agreeing!

So how is it done? And does it hurt? And does it take long to heal?
Well, despite the fact that it looks pretty ‘serious’ the PA (as it’s affectionately known) is actually a fairly easy piercing to perform. According to good old Wiki it traditionally goes ‘along the underside of the glans from the urethral opening to where the glans meets the shaft of the penis.’ And if you fancy doing things the other way around you can also have the piercing enter through the urethra and come out through a hole pierced through the top of the glans.

Now the all-important question – does it hurt? Well, as you can imagine having a sharp object pierced through any part of the body is not entirely fun, but most piercers agree that the PA is one of the easiest and least complicated body piercings to perform because it actually goes through a very thin membrane. In fact it’s so thin you can usually see right through it. So while it might feel a bit weird having something going into the urethra rather than coming out of it, most brave boys can handle it!

Once the bar is in place it usually takes about four weeks to heal, which is pretty much what you’d expect for any other body piercing. During that time sex is a no no and the piercing is likely to bleed as your bits and pieces to tend to get jostled around during the day. However, the bleeding shouldn’t last for more than a week or so and if you dose yourself up with Vitamin K supplements this will help with the clotting. It’s also a good idea to ditch the boxers for a pair of snug briefs while the piercing heals as this will offer plenty of support.

What about going for a pee? Can this cause infection? No, in fact it’s the opposite. Urine actually helps to wash away any of the secretions from the piercing and though it will probably sting like a bastard for a few days, peeing will actually help the healing process. One way of minimising the sting is to fill up a large bowl or bucket and submerge the entire member into the water while you pee. Sounds a bit weird but it washes the urine away from the piercing immediately – hence no nasty stinging sensation.

Once your PA has healed you can start experimenting with different sized jewellery. It’s very easy to stretch and you have a choice of ring, barbell, or curved bar. Some jewellery will suit more than others, it all depends on how ‘low’ your urethral opening is. Good advice would be to start with something relatively small and manageable and then see how you and your partner get on during sex. A big fuck off barbell might looks the nuts but it aint gonna be much fun if it gets stuck in her teeth during a BJ now is it?! Chat it through and see how things feel the first time you have sex, then once you get used to the new sensations, feel free to adorn your Prince as you see fit!
